Scientists met with Miss Regan one last time this week to solve a problem.  “It’s too loud on the bus!” she told us.  “Can you design and build something that can carry sound, which children could use to talk to each other on the bus?”  Children worked together in teams and this is what they came up with.

Here are two cool designs made this week:

Finally, here is our new math game called Money Magic.  Children role dice and collect pennies.   Then they trade in coins along the way for nickels, dimes and quarters until they reach $1.00.  It’s a lot of fun!

We will be performing at our all school assembly tomorrow at 2:15.  Please come join us if you are free!  We will be reading poems in honor of National Poetry Month and singing the song Kind and Growing Kinder by our very own, former kindergarten teacher, Dorothy.  We learned a lot from storyteller John Porcino.  Now we will try to put it into action during our performance tomorrow.

Our storyteller, John Porcino, came in to see us twice this week.  The children have each chosen a story they would like to learn how to tell to others.  This week we read our stories and broke them up into important chunks so we could draw a comic to help us remember the order in which to tell the story.  Then the children found partners to practice telling their story to.  John came in and coached us on tips to use when trying to tell a good story.  He also entertained us with music,  jokes and tricks.  Ask your child to tell you one!

We also got into groups this week for a “Superkid Challenge”.  Each group studied ways to be a good student at school and came back to the class to report on what they learned.  One group made a bulletin board on leadership for the hallway by the nurses office.  Another group made a calming corner for our classroom.  Another group showed us how to do a kindness circle with stones and water.  Ask your child which group he/she was a part of and what was learned from other groups.  Come in and see the posters we made!IMG_4533IMG_4497 IMG_4527 IMG_4526 IMG_4525 IMG_4524 IMG_4523 IMG_4522 IMG_4521

In science this week we went on a Sound Walk to find all the sounds we hear at school.  Then we came back to discuss what made the sounds.

Two proud builders this week!
